About Jaime Burnside

The clients that are drawn to working with me are individuals who are determined to free themselves from emotional oppression. Negative life experiences can hinder our ability to grow into our full potential and can cause us to engage in unhealthy relationships with ourselves, the ones we love, and the world around us.

Working closely with my clients, we uncover the truth of their being. It is with love and compassion that I work in partnership with my clients to discover what inner wounds and needs there are to be tended to. Clients that have a desire to live in authenticity with themselves and in their relationships are ideal clients for my practice. I continue to be in awe of the dedication, courage and curiosity my clients display in session as we work in collaboration to seek to know the unknown parts of themselves and heal inner wounds.

Providing a safe place to step into the unknown is essential for our work together. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the strongest resources we can use in psychotherapy. In addition to using evidenced based psychological interventions, building a trusting relationship between us will be how we create change from within.

In my work I have walked with my clients through issues that have included; anxiety, depression, substance misuse, relational difficulties, mood disturbances, self-esteem and codependency struggles, PTSD and complex trauma, and childhood abuse. I utilize a variety of interventions that include cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment based approaches, somatic modalities, psychoanalytic theories as well as internal family systems which allow our work to be an integrated and holistic experience.

I use compassion, empathy, assertiveness, and humor while in the room with my clients and I most enjoy working with individuals and couples who are looking to expand their awareness of self and enhance their overall wellbeing. I strive to use a culturally competent lens while practicing psychotherapy, as well as being inclusive of diversity when working with individuals and couples. I have worked in the field of mental health since 2012 in a variety of roles such as; working with at-risk populations locally and internationally, facilitating therapeutic services in correctional facilities, providing psychotherapy in community health settings, and most recently working in private practice. I am a certified Neuropsychotherapist.

If my approach to psychotherapy resonates with you, I would love to have a free consultation to answer any questions you may have. Having a telephone consultation can be a great way to also feel if working together will feel comfortable for us both.
